In advance of the show's launch, there was one particularly enthusiastic supporter. "This represents the dawn of a sort of political shift," said John Solomon. The right-leaning Just the News platform will host the former prime minister's new audio shows.

Establishing Ties in the Maga Media Ecosystem

Compatriot supporters, including a counselor supportive of Reform, have also helped her launch the her new show. The production is competent, though simple. The show has attracted ten thousand followers in her first week and her debut achieved tens of thousands of views during that week.

This represents a humble beginning, but in partnering with John Solomon, Truss is being entering a mature right-wing media network generating and disseminating pro-Trump narratives. Central preoccupations include claims of media suppression by the mainstream media and a desire to remove a shadowy government apparatus – which she attributes her downfall to for the abrupt termination of her disastrous time in office.

"The platform is not widely recognized outside of the Maga world, but it does have credibility there, largely because of John Solomon, who provides analysis on Maga platforms like Steve Bannon's War Room and has even spoken with Donald Trump," noted an anthropology expert, who has closely studied the Maga movement.

A Contentious Ally

The former PM's foray to transplant American conservative media to the UK has drawn her nearer to contentious individuals such as John Solomon.

He established the platform after criticism when allegations surfaced of promoting misleading narratives about Biden's anti-corruption work in Ukraine, as well as controversial stories about one-time diplomat to Ukraine.

His claims were repeated throughout the pro-Trump outlets, with he featuring as a regular guest on Sean Hannity's influential Fox News program. The former president personally boosted the journalist's work.

Solomon made the reports about Ukraine in a number of opinion pieces for the outlet The Hill, where he was moved to a columnist role when staffers raised concerns over his articles. These reports were key in Trump's pressure for the Ukrainians to look into Hunter Biden and his father in that year. These actions resulted in impeachment proceedings against Trump. The Senate later voted to acquit the then-president.

Weeks after Solomon left the publication in late 2019, the news organization revealed it was performing a assessment of his work concerning Ukraine. It concluded the journalist had cited questionable informants and stated he "omitted important details about main Ukrainian informants, including the fact that they had been indicted or were being probed."

Joining the Network

Solomon's own broadcast spots are a sign of the right-wing media network Liz Truss is entering. Solomon's own programs have frequently included personalities such as Mike Benz, a political voice whose arguments against the foreign aid agency was cited by Elon Musk as grounds for dismantling the government body.

A Cross-Border Foray

Although Truss's stilted style and professional woes have been mocked within the UK, a number of stateside commentators are not discounting her attempts to reinvent herself as a UK offshoot of the pro-Trump media ecosystem.
