Toy Story 5 Trailer Sets The Beloved Duo Against a Digital Device
It has been 30 anniversary since the first Toy Story movie was released, establishing the animation giant as a leading film company and bringing audiences to iconic characters like Woody (the actor) and Buzz Lightyear (Tim Allen), who are now famous worldwide.
In 2026, the fifth installment is scheduled for release. The initial preview for Toy Story 5 landed recently, providing a brief look into the storyline but leaving fans curious how it will address the conclusion of Toy Story 4.
The Latest Addition: A Digital Device Spooks the Gang
The preview reveals Bonnie — who received Andy's toys when he grew up — getting a brand new plaything, one that terrifies the familiar toy group. She gets her initial digital gadget, and she is thrilled about it.
Presumably, the amphibian-inspired device will animate just like the rest of her playthings. However, the characters seem to view it as a danger coming to replace them, which it likely will.
The Cowboy's Comeback: Unanswered Questions from Toy Story 4
An element the teaser doesn't touch on is what the sheriff is back with his companions in the child's bedroom. The end of Toy Story 4 depicted him embark on a new adventure with Bo Peep (the actress), journeying with a carnival and assisting prize toys locate loving owners.
Surely, Pixar will address the aftermath of Toy Story 4 in the film. Witnessing him appear in Bonnie's room unexpectedly is a little strange, though. It also raises questions whether Bo Peep will have come back with him. And where is the stuntman toy (the star)?
Continuity from the Previous Film
At the very least, some elements are continuing from the prior film. The final act the cowboy did before departing for his fresh path was hand over his sheriff badge to Jessie (Joan Cusack), entrusting her as the leader of Bonnie's bedroom. The clip displays the badge attached to her outfit.
It is hoped she is remains the driving force among the toys.
